Step 1: Login to the cPanel.
Step 2: Select ‘File manage’ under “File” section.
Step 3: Open the .htaccess file or create a new file and named as .htaccess.
Step 4: Update the below code to change your default index file.
DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm default.htm index.php index.php3 index.phtml index.php5 index.shtml mwindex.phtml
Step 5: Click ‘Save changes’ to apply the settings.
