How to Modify a Directory’s Index Settings Using cPanel

This article will guide you to modify a Directory’s Index Settings using cPanel. Index Manager will manage to display the directories in the web. You can customize the directory and set how it will display in the web. There is four type of index settings Default system setting, No indexing, Standard indexing and Fancy indexing. If you are wishing no one would see the files in your directory then choose No Indexing. If you don’t want to interpret in the case then leave it to default System setting. In Standard Indexing, directory list will display in the form of text if there is an absence of index file. In Fancy indexing, the directory will be displayed in the form of icons with text if there is no index file. Follow the steps below to Modify a Directory’s index settings using cPanel,

Step 1 – Login to your cPanel.

Step 2 – Click Indexes under Advanced section.

Step 3 – Click the folder you want to protect or modify the index settings.

Step 4 – Choose which Indexing style you want.

Step 5 – Click Save to Save the settings.

Now the index setting successfully updated.

The Index Manager allows you to customize the way a directory will be viewed on the web. You can select from the four options they are Default system setting, No indexing, Standard indexing and Fancy indexing. If you don’t want to change your folder into a directory then click No indexing. Indexing will help you to change the visual representation of the list in either text and text with icons mode.
